Interior Design
A film by Ballantyne Haines

Interior Design is a short film that was created by Ballantyne in the final year of her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
Inspired by the films of Douglas Sirk, Interior Design explores the feeling of quiet desperation and the need to escape the numbness felt when living inauthentically. The period setting of the film is a metaphor for a life lived entirely in ideals - a perfectly crafted veneer that is disconnected and exhausting to uphold. The story follows Kitty and her inevitable unravelling as she breaks free from expectations, both her own and those of the world around her.
